Background
GKM WI Global Supply Chain, LLC, a global supply chain “think tank”. It isn’t a logistics company, freight forwarder, or 3PL. The company uses analytics, and other best practices, combined with lean process engineering, to design solutions for complex, supply chain challenges.
What is the GKM WI TEU Intermodal Platform?
Researched in 2012-2013, and using information provided by “Brown County Port/Rail Committee White Paper Report” and “Evaluating Export Container Pooling Options in MN, WI and MI’s Upper Peninsula study by Wisconsin DOT”, the WI Platform was designed to improve TEU flows into and out of the largest Inland Port in the World.
After completing research and authoring the “Schematic Flow Design”, the Wisconsin Platform was piloted in Bensenville, IL in 2014. It was designed to “reverse the origin” for companies that Import and Export TEU’s. Reversing the origin allows companies to have more control over issues that impact cost, namely assessorial charges, chassis shortages, delays at ports, and others, because TEU’s are serviced at a facility in Joliet, Illinois, and closer to railroads.

The facility is located in Joliet, IL and operations are managed by a Chief Operations Control, director.
GKM WI vetted the candidate and required the company’s management team to attend lectures about GKM WI’s Schematic Design. This included studying “Integrated Equity Analytics” a formula copy protected by GKM, linear and non-linear modeling and IE strategic mapping that creates circuitous TEU flows to and from Wisconsin for processing. Proficiency was required before the company was selected, and in 2020, GKM WI Management named Midwest Carriers, Kaukauna, WI, as the new COC.
An asset-based carrier, Midwest Carriers add value by managing traffic flows to and from the International, TEU Process Center in Joliet, IL to destinations throughout Wisconsin. The majority of out-flows and in-flows to and from Wisconsin are serviced by Midwest Carriers’ Asset Division.
